MagSafe 3

MagSafe 3 is Apple's proprietary magnetic laptop charging connector, reintroduced with M1-generation MacBook Pro in 2021 after being absent from 2016–2021 USB-C MacBooks. The connector provides up to 140 W for the MacBook Pro 16" M4 Max and 96 W for the 14". Its magnetic attachment prevents damage from tripping over the cable. MagSafe 3 uses a 5-pin contact arrangement and is not compatible with MagSafe 1 or MagSafe 2 (earlier MacBook connectors). MacBooks still charge via USB-C/Thunderbolt if MagSafe cable is unavailable.
